Rational for A Blended Finance Facility for Start-ups in Export

Problems

Absence of a Blended Finance Facility targeting Start-ups:There is an absence of any blended finance facility targeting start-up projects in agriculture export development and manufacturing. Women entrepreneurs seeking to launch new projects in manufacturing and export are worst hit by this gap.

The need for jobs:In Nigeria, one million young people enter the labour market every year. In West Africa, it’s about 2 million. They need job opportunities and an alternative to migration to urban centers and to foreign countries.

Our Solution

Our solution is to set up a blended finance facility that will have both a fund component and a technical assistance (TA) component. The fund will identify, prioritize and make equity, debt investments (into existing and start-ups projects) of $100k to $500k; and in addition, provide technical assistance (through the TA component) to investee firms to make them attractive to raise additional funds from local and foreign investors and fund managers.

Capital Dial Investment Limited was conceived to offer this solution.
